  1. Something Good

From the recording Source Materials

“Something Good” is essentially an ode to Providence, RI. When the pandemic hit my
sophomore year at Brown, I was sent back home to LA. During that time, I realized just how much
I took Providence for granted when I was there. When I came back, I made a vow to myself to
really appreciate its beauty and to cherish all of the moments there. This song is a compilation of
my favorite memories. I wanted to blur the sonic lines between when sounded electronic versus
acoustic. I used a lot of natural sounding midi instruments but I also mixed in live acoustic
instruments and my own voice of course to do so. It is really supposed to have an organic and
natural feel to it, one that reflects the scenery of this quaint New England college town.

Lyrics

Track 4: Something Good
Little boxes on hillsides
Crevice in the clouds
Spilling droplets of sunlight
We catch on the way down
Blasting all the old hits
We used to sing in crowds
Good ole’ days
Only live in the radio now
5
We’re on the precipice, of something good this time around
Sweet kind of recklessness, one that chills the bones
Re-writing the histories of the tiny towns, that we built from the ground
Its an unfair state of affairs but it won’t get us down
Missteps on the mezzanine
We learn from our mistakes
Breath in, the flickering
Light across your face
Birds flew as fall came and I fall and fall again
They echo your name
And I call and call again
We’re the new
Fake lovers of July
We’re the new fake lovers of July
