Katherine Beggs is a Chinese-American composer from Los Angeles, California. She is classically trained in piano and composition. As a multi-faceted artist, Katherine is film composer, songwriter, music producer, and sound designer. She has scored numerous films such as “Dr. Z” that have been featured in festivals, including the Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festival: LA Shorts International Film Festival. Katherine is currently scoring the feature film“Bellyache,” directed by Van Ditthavong. She is an incoming Society of Lyricist and Composers Mentee for the 2024-2025 season.
Katherine is committed to social change, which shines through her music. She uses storytelling to amplify diverse voices, bring awareness to social issues, and inspire others. She has made it a personal mission to compose music for causes that she believes in and is deeply committed to the creative vision of her clients. Katherine also aims to uplift the voices of marginalized identities in the music industry.
Katherine is a screen scoring master's graduate of NYU Steinhardt. She also graduated from Brown University with a dual degree in Music and Political Science. Katherine co-founded Cutting Room Music, where she works alongside veteran media composers Mark Roos and Adonis Tsilimparis.
